Nickbee,

Try the Goldberg Ultimate Bipe!! I have one on the shelf itching to be built. I have seen one fly with that combination and a 3 blade prop to boot. It was awesome to say the least. Just my .02s.

Depends on how you want to fly.

That would also work well in a Hog Bipe though even with more throws, it would be more docile than an ultimate :)

What kinda flying do you like to do? Balsa USA's EAA Bipe would be nice with that mill...I just finished my second one and it's on my website if you want to see it.

If you're looking for aerobatics, that engine is PERFECT for either the Goldberg Ultimate, or the Great Planes Super Skybolt!

I would like to go with something aerobatic. I have the engine in a Yellow 60 sized Extra now. I would like to but together another airframe to drop the engine in and out of. So far it sounds like the goldburg ultimate is the best choice.

GCM Ultimate is my vote. I'm building one right now. My second. It frames up very fast. I almost went with the YS91 but opted for the Saito 120. The Saito is quite crowded by my standards.

I actually have a Hog Bipe new in box. I just can't get motivated to build it.

Hey ilikesome planes,

I guess you better change your name then :D

Hog Bipe's rule!! Barnstorming at it's best

It's a fun plane and, better still, won't drop out of the sky with a deadstick like your Ultimate

Don't give me a frown because I have a kit I'm not motivated to build. I bet you have one too. Sheesh.

I've looked at the Hog's design and specs. With similar wing loading and drag, I don't see why a Hog would glide better than an Ultimate.

Doesn't mater anyway. I use gliders for gliding.

those of us wih YS engines do't have to worry about dead sticks...

har dee har, but those of us without YS engines can afford more fuel :D

The reason I have a better glide than my buddy's ultimate is due to the dihedral in the lower wing and it's about 2 inches skinnier on the fuse.

When his ultimate runs out of gas, it rarely sees the field.

As for me, gliding, soaring, combat, aerobatics, what does it matter so long as it's flying.

Besides, Hogs look better than Ultimates anyway :)

I'll probably build my hog some day. I have a Saito 72 that would give me a nice light, moderately powered, slow aerobatic plane. Take some weight out of the fuse and tail (it looks very beefy). Of course, I'll flatten the lower wing and square off the wing tips. Maybe use a roundish cowling from Stan's and double the rudder size. The cool thing about the Hog is it's soooo easy to customize. I like Hogs too. ;)

Yup,

I rounded the rudder and added 2 inches. Stan's makes a rounded cowl for the Hog. I got one but haven't installed it; probably over the winter.

The plane isn't as heavy as it looks but it loves to be customized.
