How does the wing get warped during building ?
As I am about to create my first kit , I jsut want to prepare myself for any eventualities. Thanks . Arjun |

Follow the instruction manual thoroughly and build on a very true flat surface.......some builders us 2'X4' ceiling tiles or dry-wall to pin structures to. Happy building!

Try using a new hollow core door, approx. 30 in. wide. Don't add legs to it, just lay it atop a table. If the table isn't straight, shim underneath the door as soon as possible to prevent the door from warping.
They are cheap, straight and pins go right into it. When buying one, make sure it is straight. If you are going to build a lot of models and one side gets too much glue or holes, just flip it over and use the other side. Good luck, Dr. Wine |

It helps a lot to start out with warp free wing parts. Check your leading and trailing edges as well as your struts. If they are warped, either replace or get the warp out before you install. A bad trailing edge will easily flick some washout or lift into wing no matter how straight a surface you start out with. A warp in the struts can be dealt with and the instructions will tell you how. I use the Edwin Lind Magnetic Board and it is great but it alone will not prevent a warp.

One more thing is to leave the wing pinned to the building board untill the instructions tell you to take it off. Always happy to help if I can. Garry

Inspect your spars before you start to build. If they are bowed, put the bows facing each other like in figure "A" below.
Also, look down the length of each spar. If it is too warped side to side, replace it. |
