Well we finally finished covering (well a few small details to finish but mostly done) all we have left is the stickers to add and it's time to install all the gear and get ready to fly AHHH and wait for the warmer days DOH Mine is the red one, Let me know what you guys/girls think.

The sig kits are great first builds although the hog is a little more complex if nothing else for the fact that you have to build 2 wings. But I would say go for it, just take your time.

Actually the blue one is a first build for my friend, We built them together at his house because he was nevouse about his first build and I was there if he needed help but he had no trouble with the build and having an extra set of hands was a huge help for both of us.
rwright142 the build took about 40 hours but we did not keep record of the covering time but it did take a lot of time getting all the stripes right and to match on both planes, friday I will finish the little details (basically the white stripe on the rudder) and install the engines put the stickers and windshields on and finally the radio gear and CG then the wonderful waiting for the good wheather for the maiden flights

The Hogs look great with a good scheme.

But what are those other two bipes? The Orange one and the Blue one?

LOL the pics changed the color a little but that is the bottoms of the planes, I almost thought you where talking about the ones in the background, Hanging on the ceiling is a GP Pitts my friend got for a killer deal RTF and never flown from another friend that quit the hobby. He is not ready to fly it so he hung it up till he is ready and the other is a Skybolt that was built by another as a first kit and gave up on so we and another friend decided to fix it up so our other flying buddy can have some fun with a bipe with us. We got a great bunch of guys in our club and we all put a little in to help out the next guy, The 3 of us plan to fly a little formation with the bipes once we get a little more practice with out beater planes. Thanx for the compliments, Also we are all putting saito 100's on them. I'm loving the classic look we gave with the starburst. They actually came out better than we hoped.

The Hog Bipes should be great with Saito 100's.

There was one at the one field where I flew a couple years ago that did pretty good with a Saito 80. There was another several years ago with a Magnum FS91. He was a guy that always flew wide open throttle. He had his hands full.

The planes I was talking about were in addition to the Skybolt?

There's a new Sig Skybolt from a old kit at the field where I'm flying now and it has a OS 91 Surpass. Ballistic is the word. I believe the plane would do pretty good with a 46? It talks like 60 on the box. I suppose some present day 46's are as strong as some of the old 60's?

Just about finished with my Hog Bipe too! I put a Saito 100 twin on it (hey, I gotta be a little different).Hopefully, I'll get to do the maiden on Wednesday.

WOW jtsails, The red and gold looks really good, Nice job on the covering. Are you planning to use a cowl on yours, We almost did but decided to just leave the cheaks on and keep it simple.

Thanks guys. I have really enjoyed this build. Dauntae, I wanted to put a cowl on it and even bought one from Stan's, but the Saito twin is a really short (prop to firewall) engine. I couldn't get the cowl to fit without doing a lot of glass reworking on it. So... I convinced myself that I shouldn't hide that engine anyway! I finished the last details yesterday and I'm ready to maiden this baby. Weather forecast looks pretty good for Wednesday so hopefully that will work out.:D

Hi Dauntae,

The Skybolt on the floor on the right made me do a double take. It looks like mine did back in 2003. The Black and Yellow is a great color combo for the Skybolt IMHO.[8D]

The HOGS look great. You guys must really like TWO wings! I think I'm about ready for another BIPE. I've got some plans that I've wanted to tackle for awhile now...

WYDAH I think it might be yours he is trying to copy, He has a pic from someplace and it might have been from a thread yours is in, I have a shrike I used black and yellow on and it is a great combination. Friday we will be finishing up with the stickers and start radio install and give the other guy help with the skybolt so his is to the point our hogs are in.

Wanted to give you guys an update on the maiden. Weather was great, temp in the upper 50's, light wind blowing straight down the runway. After getting all the prelims out of the way, I taxied her out and lined it up. Rolled on the throttle and off she goes. Tracking on the ground was very straight and manageable and it lifts off quickly. Added a couple of clicks of right aeliron and several clicks of down elevator and it was trimmed as pretty as you please. I think the engine is a great match for the plane, plenty of power, plenty of verticle and boy does it sound great. With the uneven firing it sounds somewhat like a Harley, a perfect match for a plane called a hog! All in all, what a nice stable flying plane.

A few questions. How did it balance out with the twin 100? Did you move the firewall back? Are you running one clunk in the tank with the 'Y' to the carbs? I've heard that dual clunks with individual fuel lines to the carbs make the dual carb twins less likely to drop a cylinder. Any experience with that? Thanks! Your Hog looks great!

I forgot to say, Great Job! I really like your colors too! Based on my flight today, your going to love these planes and since the 100 single has more power and less weight than my twin it should have awesome verticle performance.

it balanced with no added weight. I didn't change the firewall, I just put the servos towards the back of the wing saddle area with the battery pack just behind them (but still in the wing saddle opening. With one battery pack it balanced at the forwardmost recommended point and with two battery packs it balanced in the middle of the recommended range. I also have a MPI onboard glow system and the battery for that is at the front of the saddle area. I'm using one fuel clunk and a Y very close to the carbs. On the first flight today the motor ran perfect but on the second flight it got a little rough, not dropping a cylinder but it was missing a little. On the third flight, I had enriched both carbs two clicks and it dropped a cylinder just after climbout. I flipped on the glow and it picked back up, landed and I leaned the missing cylinder out two clicks from the original setting. That fixed it and it ran great on the next flight. Tuning this thing is definitely tougher than a single, but it's a heck of a lot easier than my '71 Porsche with 6 idle mix screws! btw the plane weighed in a 8 1/2 lbs.

I fly with the Peidmont Aeromodelers club. Our field is just north of Fayetteville off of Hwy 13. Great field, 200 acre hayfield with no trees.

Jtsails, Is on old farm road? I went to a big bird flyin last fall there. Huge field! I'm about an hour away from Fayettevillle south towards Elizabethtown. Hope to get back to that field soon. Ben

The only sure way to plumb the tank for a dual carb Saito is to run dual clunks.

When you run a "Y" up close to the carbs, one carb will suck air from the other carb at times and not from the tank.
