GP Ultimate Bipe 40
Hi guys Im just putting the finishing touches on my GP ultimate Bipe 40 . Its looking to like the all up finished wieght is going to be 6lbs 14oz . I was wondering what others have gotten for finished weights ? I mounted a magnum 4 str 91 and to balance I moved the rud and ele servos to the tail of the fuse. And moved the battery pack just about mid way in the fuse. CG is dead on at 2 3/8 as called for with no added weight . the book said the weights are from 5 1/2- 6 1/2 lbs. so I feel I am good at the 6 lbs 14 oz. I know after building this kit it builds heavy. Anyway hope to hear from a few of you with your weights.

RE: GP Ultimate Bipe 40
A few years back,a past member of our local R/C club had a GP Ultimate 40 as his second plane and threw a Saito .80 in it.Flew fine as long as you kept the power up but drop the power a bit or better still......dead stick,it would drop like a friggin brick.Extra power at the expense of increased wing loadings=crappy flight characteristics. The secret to success is to achieve the best all around power to weight ratio possible.Slapping on a bigger heavier more powerful engine is sometimes the very thing NOT to do.When all is said and done......to each his own;).

MMM strange how everyones first words on a mag 91 is its going to be a brick! But yet do a search and a big percentage of guys swear on the OS 70 surpass as a perfect match for the GP Ultamate 40 bipe. For all that are slamming the Mag 91 as being too heavy. Its wieght is only .3oz heavier than the OS 70 surpass. So just for the record
OS .70 Surpass =22.1oz Magnum XL .91RFS = 22.4oz |

Mine weighs in at 5lb 11oz with both wheels on it. lol! I went with the os70II surpass because my saito 91 was already on another airplane. It balanced out perfectly horz. and vert. without adding any weight. A tip for balancing, do a search on vanessa c.g. machine on this site. It is by far the best way I have tried to balance an airplane. No more dings or dents. |
