coverite's Gee Bee model E
 

Hello all, I am having troble finding the CG point for a coverite's Gee Bee E. It is a 40 - 60 size plane. I have a rossi 60 on it, I traded for this plane and can not find any info for it. Any info will help. I would like to fly this plane soon. I have had it for 3 years . Still looking for info. HELP>>>>>

Is it an "E" or model D? Model D in foreground.

Thanks, But it is a coverite"s Gee Bee model "E" The tail # NC11044. I have a picture of it but I don't know how to put it on rc universe. It is in my kodak file. That model "D" sure is a nice looking plane. How does it fly? Where is the CG on the "D"?

God must love rc flyers. I was on e-bay and found my plane. After 3 years . I sent the guy a message and he looked on the instructions and it said 2 and 13/16 from leading edge. See RCers are good as thay come. The kit sold for $170.85 . Heck I must have gotten a good deal on mine. It was built with a new rossi 60 engine and clouth covering for only $40.00. The old man just likes to build them then he flyes them once and starts over . I guess that is why I have 36 planes.....lol PS... Thanks for all the help.....

The Model D flies like a low-winged trainer. It was my first low-wing plane back in the late 80's and I used to fly it from the street, curb and all. A year or so ago I found a Canadian company who purchased the Coverite rights. They laser cut the kit and updated the hardware and plastic cowl and pants. Kit cost $125. They even ship the original Henry Haffke instructions and plans. It is well worth the money, particularly since I have the plans copied, digitized and make cardboard templates of all parts. The only thing I dislike about the kit is the narrow engine compartment. I was able to squeeze my HB .40 and tatone muffler inside howerver. Good luck!

I have a H&B 61 in a 40 size funtanna. Thay are good engines but hard to find.

I have moved the CG back 2 and 13/16 . I had to add 4 oz. to the tail after I moved the battery as far back as I could. It is now under the pilot and it is a 6 volt battery. Boy that Rossi 60 is heavy.....lol. I bet this plane lands fast. I am going to put her on the scales tonight. It feels like it is well over the 5 lb that it was suppose to weigh.

30% of the mean aerodynamic chord should give you a nice starting point on that CG

Thanks, I flew the plane to other day and removed 2 1/2 oz of the tail. It now flys perfect. I should have been flying this plane years ago. How do you post pictures on here? I have tried but to no luck. Thanks for your help... If you are ever in KY look me up and we will fly together. Heck I will even supply the planes. Your friend... O.D.

I have the Model E,
Mine is a Screamer with an O.S. .40 FX on it! that Rossi must really haul!

good luck I've had a Ball with mine, and I originally built it back in '96 and re-covered it again in 2001
It's still flying!

I'll have to get the 'D to round out my collection.

US185 I had this plane just hanging for years. All my griends called it my hanger queen, Thay said that I would never fly it... LOL>>> Now everyone wants one. I have a 12-9 master airscrew prop on her and she will screem. Looks good doing it too...If you like a real fast plane I have a 20 size stick with a 40 LA that will really move. It only weight is 2 Lb. 11 oz. It will out run my scat cat with a jet 40 and tuned pipe. The Gee-Bee is about as fast as my super sportster with a 51 supertiger with a 10-9. If you are ever in KY look me up.. we will fly......

I produced a set of cad plans and am in the process of having a kit laser cut for the D model Gee Bee with a 40 inch wingspan. The model is a light sport model (26-30 oz) powered by a E-Flite 480 outrunner. The short kit will be available thru Top Notch Products

Graphics are my current problem as I am finding good photos of the panther logo hard to locate. Does anyone have a set of the decals that come with the coverite kit that I may get a scan of or p[img][/img]erhaps a complet kit for sell.

I just started building the Coverite's Gee Bee Model E, .40 size. I have the plans. The CG is 2 3/4" back from the leading edge. Hope this helps. I am missing formers and the plans dont give many dimensions. Can you hlep?
