Paint
Does anyone have a list of the paint colors and brands available at the local harware store and the covering brands and collors that have a satisfactory match? I am tired of paying for the paint from the big 2.

ORIGINAL: Kimhoff Does anyone have a list of the paint colors and brands available at the local harware store and the covering brands and collors that have a satisfactory match? I am tired of paying for the paint from the big 2. What I do for an EXACT match, is bring a sample of the covering into the store and have them do a color match in latex (about $8 - $10 a quart ). Paint the latex on, let it cure (about 7 - 10 days to completely dry ) and clear coat it with Ultracote clear or (ugh ) Lusterkote clear. Water base polyurethane does not yellow with age, but it is fuel RESISTANT. If you spill raw fuel on it OR leave the residue on the paint for more than about 4 hours the clear coat will soften up. Hope this helps. |
RE: Paint
Spray can Rustoleum, in colors, is fuel proof and you can get pretty close to matching some of the popular Monokote colors. Krylon's new Fusion is also fuel proof and handles nicely.
If you have a compressor and spray system, the Klass Kote paints are as good, if not better, than the old K&B or Petitt epoxy paints. Clair |
