debonding epoxy

Big Goof, on my top flite contender, the wing is built upside down, I accidentally epoxied the bottom spar to the aft dowel guide, when I do flip the wing over to build the top, how do I debond the epoxy? It is the 5 minute variety and I heard that a heat gun will do it??

RE: debonding epoxy

I had a problem like that when building my Ultra Sport.
The firewall ended up slightly askew after the epoxy
had set. Even though I was sure everything was square
when I put the clamps on.

So out came the heat gun. Get the epoxy nice and hot.
It will loosen up. If you get it too hot it will begin to
smoke. I would imagine that would not be good to
breathe so provide for plenty of ventilation.

completely agree, the heat gun is the way to go. I had a similar problem on something that I had to use the heat gun with and after it got warm I just peeled it off and a little scraping but not much. Keep us informed.

The heat gun worked like a charm, now the top of my wing is happy again. I'll post some build picks after I complete the wing.
