Cap 232 elevator u link
Hey Guys
I got a overseas cap 232 with crap for directions 1/4 scale ... It has a 2 piece elevator with a metal u link between them. I want to run this on one servo. Is this a safe way to do this? I drilled the holes in the elevator and installed the metal u link. I epoxied the hole assembly but I have not seen this set up before. There is a servo mount on the other side for the rudder. I know I can use a pull pull rudder and take advantage of the that hole and do a 2 servo elevator but I would like to keep things simple. Then I would have to reverse that servo to much work Will one servo work ?????????/ I am using hi torque futaba servos in this application. S3010s Thanks David |
RE: Cap 232 elevator u link
For a 1/4 scale Cap elevator, I'd use at least 100oz of torque whether you use one or two servos. Metal gears and ball bearings too.
I almost lost my 1/4 scale cap due to servo failure. I thought 2 Futaba S3004's would be enough. The were until the first snap roll on high rates..... Thank God the surrounding corn was 7 feet tall!!! - Saved my plane. |
RE: Cap 232 elevator u link
GB,
I'm working on a Midwest 1/4 Cap. What I have done is used a single pushrod with a symetrical "Y" at the end to drive both elevator halves. To prevent geomemtry problems the Elevator Servo is mounted on its side with the Servo arm on the center line of the Fuz so that there is no left to right displacement as the Pushrod moves back and forth... I hope the above makes sense without pics... Oh and you will need to use a Heavy Duty servo for this kind of setup... I happen to have a spare S9152 which is more than enough but expensive... Good Luck, Hibrass |
