Hog Bipe Tail Weight

I just tried to balance my Hog Bipe and found that I need 7 Oz. of weight on the tail due to the Super Tiger 90 that I have on it. Anyone out there have any ideas on the best way to put that much weight on the tail so it doesn't ruin it's appearance and will be solid?

Thanks

Check the balance again.

I have a Hog Bipe with a Saito 0.91. The battery is foward of the wing and the receiver is amidships. The balance is perfect without any weight added.

Nope. I still need weight in the tail.

stange a guy at the club has one with a saito 100, no lead was needed. I have the same saito 100 in my hog and it looks like it will be right on too...

I have a Saito 91 and this very old Super Tiger has to weigh at least 50% more than the Saito plus it has a large, no its an immense muffler. Take my word for it, I need some weight in the tail. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to mount the weight. I am going to wee if I can move the bat further to the rear which might help a little.

I forgot to mention, I taxied it arround a little and I could not keep the tail down even with full elevator. I have large wheels and they spin freely.

Sorry your right. The ST is over 6 oz heavier.

My hog also needed no extra but what I did on another plane to get into the fuse to the rear was take one of the punchouts from the fuse and cover it the same as the fuse and put some ply in the corners to screw it on, This way you can add more if needed or take some out if too much.

Besides moving the battery can you move the tail servos to the back? That's a major project after the covering is on, I know.

If it were me, I would want the weight as far aft as possible, but not want to cut holes in the bottom for fear of weakening the tailwheel mount area. One option is to set the plane nose up, make a small holeon the bottom of the fuse toward the read, and drop in lead shot (fishing sinkers) so they settle as far aft as possible. Then pour in some epoxy to hold them in place. I haven't done this, there may be some pitfalls I haven't thought of. Andy

Do yourself a favor and put a 4 stoke in there. Otherwise it will fly like a big pig. I have a OS 91 Surpass II in mine. It flies great. With the ST and the wieght needed to balance your talking almost a pound difference.

Good Luck.

Mike
