ARF Weights
Just curious - why are ARF's heavier than kit built planes. I haven't built an ARF before but am considering a Great Plains Super Sportster which comes as either a kit or ARF. Thanks

ARF Weights
That is not always the case...but frequently it is. I believe it is because of two factors....wood selection and type of glue used.
Same thing can happen in a kit - but at least you get a chance to replace it :) Jerry |
ARF Weights
Just curious, have you actually weighed them? Is it a significant difference, or just a little? I would think an ARF trainer and a trainer kit would end up about the same weight. There's just not that much room for difference with the designs being so similar. The only thing I can think of is some ARF's use cheap covering which might be heavier.
