Looks sweet Alstack, you passed me up! Guess I need to play catch up. I crashed a knife sunday, DON'T ask, so I have a spare radio now lol.

Oh No! Sorry to hear that.

Gravity: the great motivator of kit builders.

I put together a GP Big Stik 40 this week as an intern plane to get my nerve up for the Contender. I, too, had some readily available, slightly used components needing an airframe. (Sounds better than "A bag full of salvaged parts.") It was just like an Easter Egg Hunt.

"I found the engine in this big hole."

"There's a wheel over here."

"I found the battery pack."

"Hey! The receiver's in this piece and the antenna is still attached!"

*sigh* My trusty RCM Trainer flies a different sky now. *sniff*

Let's hope the Contenders fair better. I was out flying an electric Sky Sailer last weekend and the wind caught it and then a tree ate it. It may have gone into the tree ok, but it left a bit ragged!

hoverit-RCU,

Did you know that Top Flight once produced a .40 size contender that had your alterations as options? You could build the wing with dihedral, and the inverted engine was standard. There was one difference though, the rudder was tapered so that it was thinner at the top. I think they changed it to give more leverage, because of the adverse yaw issue. Still, the contender should be a good low-wing trainer.

Hi,

Just wanted to add that I think the plane looks great. I just bought a contender the other day and I can't wait to get going on it. I really want to invert the engine like you did, gives the plane a nice look. I have a 61 2 stroke that I plan on dropping in the plane...
