Precision Cut Kits
Hi all, Just a question about this company. If any of you have had any thing to do with this company please let me know of any problems you may have had with PCK.
I have had a couple of problems with them and I was just thinking??? Is it just me or is Larry really the type of person who doesn't care about his customers after he gets your money. Thanks for any input from those who bought any of his kits. |
RE: Precision Cut Kits
Yes well I sent him plans and a check for an EAGLE V sport jet from RCM last year... I never got the kit after 4-5 MONTHS of waiting - He claimed that the check was not in the tube I sent the plans in.. had to put a "hold on that check I gave him a CC#.. still no kit and I finally had to cancell my order, now I can't even get my original plans back. Something is clearly wrong with this company!

Something is clearly wrong with this company! At the present time I'm working on getting enough eveidance togeather to take legal action against him. We don't need this type of company in the industry. There are to many people just getting started in this hobby that don't know about people like this. So my advise is if you even hear of someone thinking about placing an order of any type with PCK is to warn others of what they may or may not get from PCK. PCK uses on his web-site photos of himself with some of the top plans makers to get people to think that he is a good company to deal with. I'm gonig to send Wendell Hosteler some of these e-mails I have recived about PCK and the lack of service he provides customers. Maybe Wendell will ask Larry to remove his photo from PCK's web-site. I know I would not want my photo or company asscoiated with a PCK for fear of lossing sales of my product. I will say this though, had you recived any or all your order it would most likley been done well as what parts I did get were very well done. I just got ripped off on some of the parts and Larry wants to put his head in the sand and act like there are no problems. Well Larry, if you read this maybe you will change your ways, all we can do is hope he does or goes out of busniess. My guess is that there will be some people who don't get wind of this guys poor service and keep sending him money for poor service and he will keep taking it. |
RE: Precision Cut Kits
I have hear good things about Jesse at Laser Lizzard. you may want to check with him.

RE: Precision Cut Kits
Thanks. I will do that next time I need a kit cut. I had heard good things about PCK as well. But as we both know I'm having real problems with that outfit.
I just saw a post on this forum about PCK, someone wanted some info on them. Others said PCK was a good place to do busniess with??? I posted there and warned the guy to Beware of what you might get or not get if you order from them. |
RE: Precision Cut Kits
My experience with PCK was good. I called, talked to Larry, ordered my kit and some extras, got it in less than two weeks, very nice wood, laser cut, well packed, all there. This was a couple of years ago, but based on that, I'd deal with him again.

I have used Lazer-Works and had great service I ordered a Ultra Sport 60 when I got it I notice that the tip rib was the wrong size this made all the ribs wrong except the root rib, I called Ed told him about the problem he said he would look in to it. Two weeks later I received a new wing kit all the ribs were right no charge and a note saying thank you for pointing out the problem, A friend of mind has purchase two more short kits from Lazer-Works all great. But due to the fact that Larry for what ever reason won't answer any e-mails I send him regaurding this shortage of parts makes me mad as hell. When I called him he even said he saw the e-mails but never gave me a reason for ignoring them???? He did say he would send me the shorted parts but just like the e-mail nothing happens. This is what I'm trying to find out, am I the exception or the rule on how PCK handels their customers after they get your money. |

RE: Precision Cut Kits
I just saw this old thread and decided I needed to add to it. I ordered a PCK cut Vailly Hurricane several years ago. It came qucikly and first impressions were that it was well packaged and good wood was included. However, when I went to assemble the fusealge, the notches for the stringers were cut poorly so that when assembled, the stringers were wavy -- and there's a lot of stringers there. Instead of re-cutting each notch, I tore it up and threw it away, and bought a short kit from Lazer Lizard, which is excellent. I emailed Larry, who called me back. He told me that as soon as they did another run of the Hurricane kits, he would replace the formers and stringers. Well, years have gone by and no new parts. I emailed Larry about six weeks ago, and no reply. I've sent him another email, and we'll see. I'm not holding my breath. Nice to know I'm not alone...

RE: Precision Cut Kits
I bought a kit from PCK and it was an absolute disaster. I ordered one of his "Pro-line Aerobatic Kits". Paid over $500.00 for this kit and there were so many missing parts it was unbelievable. The wood sheeting that was supplied was not enough to do the kit (35%) and the wood that was given was of very poor quality. The thickness of the sheeting was not constant, thicker on one end then the other. After some nasty e-mails to Larry, all communication stopped. I had to scratch cut the formers that were missing, and I ended up replacing most of the sheeting in the kit. I will say that at first he did send me some of the wood that was missing, but the packaging was so poor, they arrived broken and destroyed. I know UPS can be a bull in a china shop, but this packaging was so bad I can't completely blame UPS. I told Larry to re-send the parts and use one of the tubes that he uses for the plans, he did that, and they arrived ok. Kits like this make a good argument for ARF's. I can't speak about the kits he cuts for other designers, maybe the designers have strick quality standards, but this Pro-Line Kit was terrible. I told Larry I wanted a partial refund, because I paid for a full kit, and I feel like I received a short kit. Of course that's when the communication stopped. I actually comtemplated abandoning this project and just buying a good ARF. I've been building for well over 10 years, and this was the worst quality kit I have ever seen. PCK definately lost me as a customer.

RE: Precision Cut Kits
After seeing PCK kits and all the problems with them is the reason I started cutting my own some years ago. Using my own saws and sanders I am able to select my own wood and I know things are correct. From the noise I hear at the different feilds I fly at he hasn't gotten any better over time.
It's better to just cut your own and when something goes wrong you have no one to get angry at but yourself. Saves A ton of money too. :D |
RE: Precision Cut Kits
i wish i would get an idea of why my posts are deleted. i mentioned not using this company due to what i have read here and that i would mention this problem elsewhere and i got deleted i guess. the post is gone.

Did yoy mention anything about wanting to sell your kit here? If so they will delete it due to the fact RSU has a dedicated selling site . The modereator will send you a e-mail telling you why your post was deleted as well. |
RE: Precision Cut Kits
no, i have wanted to buy a certain designer's kit that they cut for some time now but after reading this i will reconsider. i did however mention another rc site that might be interested in this company's performance. maybe that's why it is gone. oh well

RE: Precision Cut Kits
Update on my Hurricane kit:
I got a reply from Judy at PCK. She advises that she will check with Larry about this (replacing my fuse formers and stringers) and get back to me. I don't know whether to get my hopes up or not, but this is the first reply I've recieved. For what it's worth, I checked some of the parts against the plans, and Jesse's Laser Lizard parts are very accurate. Sam |
RE: Precision Cut Kits
You think maybe they're following this thread ?
|
RE: Precision Cut Kits
It would seem but this isn't the only site that has brought this up.
Daddy, how long ago did you buy that kit?? At this point in time would it mater to you if the fuse was replaced?? Just wondering. |
RE: Precision Cut Kits
I bought the kit some years ago, maybe three to five. Since attempting to build the fuse, throwing away the results, and then buying Jesse's short kit, I have not done anything. I plan on starting this project (again) this spring, after my TFGS Corsair is done. If I get the fuse parts replaced, I will build both! The first one will be to work out the bugs and hopefully fly regularly, the other I'll detail out more. If I dont' get the parts replaced, I'll cut the parts myself and build them both.

RE: Precision Cut Kits
Hi Guys, thanks for your continued vigilance and keeping all of us in the loop with this.
I have never ordered anything from PCK, I knew their rep was good years ago, but several bad posts have turned me away from them. I am currently putting together the JU-52 from Laser Works, and can say nothing bad about their work. More parts were included than I thought. For after I built up the tailfeathers from scratch, I found all of the parts needed for the tail were in the kit that was sitting on the shelf. I have 2 more projects for this winter, the Novack PBY, which I will get the short kit from Laser works, and I hope to start the Don Smith B-17 which I will get from Laser Lizard. I hope to continue to be able to verify all of your good words about those who supply our needs. I have been building smaller planes from plans for years, cutting all my parts and doing a decent job, but the quality and accuracy of a good laser cut kit is better than I can replicate. I am glad that there are people that do this sort of work in the face of the wave of ARF's coming ashore. Thanks Again, Will |
RE: Precision Cut Kits
Hi, I would just like to say reading all the input from other modelers has helped me a lot,Im currently atempting to build from scrach a royal north american billy mitchel b-25,ive built from scratch a lot but this one is more complex than ive ever done, does anyone have a manual for the plans on this aircraft, ive contacted a couple kit cutters for the parts that need to be cut,but I know for sure Ill need instructions on this one this is my first twin,I would greatly welcome any input on this.thanks and God bless you all.Billy

RE: Precision Cut Kits
I have never ordered a kit custom cut from PCK. I have not heard too many good things about them though. I have built several that were cut by The Aeroplane Works (Mace Gill) and have nothing but the highest praises from his company. Way back when his Dad (Chuck) was running things, I had great results from him as well. Any thing that I want custom cut, will come from them.

Hurricane Kit Update #2:
Got an email from Larry today: "Sam, We can send you a set of replacement fuse formers at no charge. It will be a special order and will take a few weeks. Larry, PCK". Great news. I'll let the forum know when it arrives. Sam |
RE: Precision Cut Kits
I received another email that the parts have been ordered from the laser cutter. I am feeling quite different about the company now that I have recieved a number of emails from them. I'll let you know when the parts arrive.
