Best kit out there
What is the best kit you know about or have built? I'm looking for a summer build.

RE: Best kit out there
Man is that a wide open gate! What type of flying do you do, what size aircraft, glow or electric, laser cut or machine cut?
For sport flying a 60 BTE Venture is hard to beat. http://www.btemodels.com/venture.html Bridi Aircraft by Blue Jay Models also deserve a close look with great prices. http://www.bridiairplanes.com/ John |
RE: Best kit out there
I like glow and I am in to more of the higher set wings.

RE: Best kit out there
Are there any in which I could use a 2 -stroke .46 engine?
|
RE: Best kit out there
IF you love to build the best Kit is the Sig 1/4 Scale Cub(see my avatar)
The plane is a absolute joy to build and you can go very scale or very plain and it still looks good. I fly mine with a .120 Magnum 4-stroke but the power options for this plane are wide open. The plane fly's great and looks very scale in the air. I am sure you will get alot of suggestions and opinions but this is mine:D Good Luck!! Anthony |

Yeah, go with a Sig cub. I've never build one, but I've head plenty. There grea kits. In my opinion Sig is the best of the big manufacurers.

RE: Best kit out there
That is a pretty big question. What have you build before? The Sig 4*40 was a fun kit for me to build and fly. Aerobatic but floats for a landing. The Sig Kougar is a good .40 size "go fast turn left" plane. Pretty much all of the Sig kits are good.
I'm building a Carl Goldberg Ultimate now and I'm having fun with the build but it's a bit challenging. There are a couple of quality problems but nothing that wouldn't keep me from buying another CG kit. Then there are a whole host of plans out there...just cut the parts and you have a kit. |
RE: Best kit out there
That engine size will limit you on a nice high wing plane,
I would go with the Sig Somthin Extra, easy build and a good flying plane. The Great planes 40 Cub is a nice flying plane but it just begs for a 4-stroke. Anthony |
RE: Best kit out there
I wish that you had not limited yourself to this engine. I was going to suggest that you give the WACO Phoenix Project a try, but that is far too small an engine for this one.

RE: Best kit out there
I would say a Greatacetopyellowcarlmidbrisig would be an excellent choice.

Yes, Greatacetopyellowcarlmidbrisig make excellent kits...

RE: Best kit out there
I agree with Cubnut on building a Sig Cub, but if you're set on the .46 engine, build the 1/5 scale version. It's all laser cut, will fly with the .46 and is a very nice airplane. Big enough to be impressive, small enough, especially with the two-piece wing, that you can tote it around easily.

RE: Best kit out there
Any Great Planes or Sig kit woudl be a good choice. But, the more complex the design, the longer it'll take to build. Stick with a basic design..
to keep things simple, the Sig Somethin' Extra.. |
RE: Best kit out there
Going to take a while to get one.. but I love the Adrian Paige GeeBee R2 kit. Laser cut parts that lined up perfectly. Like all kit makers though, he's facing some tough times and kits are a bit backlogged right now.

RE: Best kit out there
Looking at Bryflier's profile I see that he is a beginner. Many of the planes mentioned are WAY beyond his abilities.
Bry, try a Great Planes Easy Sport. It should be right up your alley. If you want to try a forgiving low-wing model, you could go with the Great Planes Rapture, or the Goldberg Tiger II All three planes I mentioned will work great with your engine |
RE: Best kit out there
If you just want a fun knock around plane that is easy to fly and built-try the Tower Uproar in 40 or 60 size. Absolutely the most trouble free kit I have built, course too it is a simple airplane to begin with. I did not find a single mistake in the instructions. Reasonably priced also. I use mine as a tuneup plane when I have not flown in a while. (shame)

RE: Best kit out there
i would go with the carl goldberg tiger II. its not a high wing but it flys like one. very forgiving and easy to fly and land...
