First Kit - Four Star 40

I am getting close to finishing my first ever kit. I got the kit in the mail about 9 days ago, and here it is today. Man, do these things build fast.

I still need to install the radio gear, and the canopy. I plan on blacking out the canopy. I just installed the cockpit combing because I was messing around with the kids, thinking I might put on a snoopy pilot with a machine gun. Probably a dumb idea, and I will probably just go with the blacked out bubble.

I modified the kit by clipping the wings one bay, and adding a tail wheel bracket. I decided not to sheet the turtle deck, as I heard it wasn't worth the effort.

I installed an OS .46LA and I am using a JR Sport S400 radio setup.

I have a few bubbles left to heat out, and I know this will definitely look homemade, but I am pretty pleased with it so far. I still have to learn to fly my trainer this spring, so I won't have this guy in the air for a few months yet.

This is a very addicting hobby.

Looks good. You'll enjoy it when you get to it. You'll be able to enjoy it more if/when you upgrade the engine. I started with the same motor and upgraded to a 50SX. What a difference! the LA is pretty low powered compared to others of the same displacement.
I got noticeblybetter performance when I went from a Master Airscrew prop to an APC prop.

Looks good, you'll enjoy it I'm sure. It's a fun plane.

I need to order that "fast" kit next time. Mine finished out in about a month. :)

Nice job on your build. You're going to like the 4*; it's a good flyer. Also, wise move installing a tail wheel bracket. I used the stock tail wheel arrangement and wound up replacing it after it failed a couple of times.
