covering decals

i was reading in the model airplane news and in the tips and tricks section it told you how to print decals out on the computer and put them on your monokote or ultrakote and iron them on somehow, anyways i left the magazene at school and i totaly forgot how to do it, if anybody knows how to do this, an explanation would be awesome, i just got done wiht my first kit and i'm looking for a way to spice it up a bit

thanks,

RE: covering decals

I bought that decal paper you use to put images on T-Shirts. Got it at a craft shop. Printed what I wanted from my computer, then ironed them over ultracote. I then covered the decals with a clear ultracote to protect them. Worked great.

The water slide decal paper works better than the T shirt paper. Just make sure you clear coat the decals before soaking them. I usually use Ultracote clear for clear coating - protects and fuel proofs at the same time.

RE: covering decals

tried the water slide paper with no luck..... coated with 3 coats of clear and waited between coats, laid it flat in the water to slide it off, and still got cracks in the decal. Maybe I had a bad batch or I'm stupid..... whatever.... it never worked for me.
