Dave Brown spinner problems

I have a 2 inch Dave Brown spinner that I was planning to use on my Bonanza. I have the 1/4 28 short adapter nut, also made by Dave Brown. But the nut is so long, it hits the spinner and the spinner can't go back to the back plate. I'm using an OS Max 50 and I was hoping to use a 11X7 MA or APC. The prop doesn't interfere with the spinner at all.
I don't understand why Dave Brown would sell an adapter nut that doesn't work with his own spinners. Are there other brands that are shorter ?

I had a problem with a DB spinner where the nut bottomed out before it could tighten down on the prop (the engine has a long prop shaft).

Anyway, I contacted DB and they tapped the nut deeper and sent it back to me. Contact them. I'll bet they will modify one for you, too.

Could this have been mis-packaged? Maybe the package says "short" but the contents aren't. First thing I'd do is take it back and compare it to other "short" packaged adapters.

I've got a short DB adaptor nut--if you measure yours I'll tell if it's the right one or not. Jim

Went to the hobby shop today hoping that I actually had a "long" adoapter that had been miss labelled. No such luck. We opened a new spinner and new adapter and they didn't work. Then I went to a friends shop and he cut of 1/8 at the 8-32 end. turns out we cut off all of the 8-32 threads with it. All 3 of them. My friend says he thinks he has a 2 inch True turn spinner and nut at home that will work for me. I find out tomorrow morning.

Or just grind the end off the nut. I've done that before.

We tried, ( my friend tried), the True Turn adapter. Long story made short, he had to cut 1/8 off the True Turn nut. But the True Turn nut had much more threads at the 8-32. There were still about 5 threads left after the cut was made. SO......get a True Turn adapter nut.
