12' Telemaster

Has anyone ever put a big glow engine on the plane. I am not into gas. If so how did it fly. Also, I am not worried about fuel consumpion.

Wow, that would be a big honkin glow motor. A friend has one with a G62 on the nose

These look like good choices. The radial would look and sound pretty cool. The twin would probably fly it the best. Just curious, why you don't like the gassers? Going glow you'll wind up paying at least double what you would for a gas setup.

Just saw this one a minute ago... performance would be less zippy.. but it would probably still pull it around well. And now that I really start looking at the plane the others with the exception of the twin are borderline excessive.

Let's not forget...it's a telemaster. A big one, to be sure, but it's still a telemaster, and thus has a wing loading of something like .4 nano-ounces per square mile. The thing would, quite seriously, probably fly with a .90 in the nose for cryin out loud.

I have seen one with an OS 1.60 in the nose, though I did not see it fly that day (radio problems unrelated to the plane). The builder, however, claimed to have over 50 flights on it, and said the 1.60 pulled it along just fine...couldn't really DO anything with it, but then again, it's a Telemaster, so hey. :)

I saw one fly with a Saito 2.70 twin on the nose. The poor engine looked lost up there, but it flew the Giant Tele with ease. Kind of like a real C-47.

I built a Telemaster back in mid 80's had 8' wingspan(best I remember), but I flew it with a K&B 61. It had plenty of power to fly but not enough to loop, but hey who loops a Telemaster.----------Revver Bro#164

I have a senior 8 foot and iit calls for a .60 but me being a power nut i put a .91 4 stroke on it and it has almost unlimited power so i know the 12 footer would fly with a .91 or 1.00 We flew my 8 footer with a .40 so they fly real easy and float like a feather. My club claimes my telemaster does not want to land. You have to cut the throttel completly to land. I love flying mine off the lake with floats on it. Even with .60 size floats it barely slowes it down....
Good luck Jim S;)

Hobby Lobby recommends a G-26 engine which is roughly equivalent to a 1.20 size airplane.
