Perfection Kit Completed
1 Attachment(s)
I am getting back into the hobby after being gone for way too long. Careers can kill a hobby like no body's business.
I used to fly the Perfection when I was a member of the HOTMAC club down in Waco, TX in the late 80's. Was always my favorite to fly because of how well it handled and how responsive it was. Soooo, I decided it should be my first plane to come back with and help me knock the rust off the hinges. If you are interested in getting a kit, visit Max and Todd at [link=http://bpassociates.homestead.com/perfection2.html]BP Assciates[/link] Here are a couple of pictures of my completed Perfection: |

Looks like A trick stick with A cool covering job. What engine is that you have stuffed up front??
I like the pipes stucking up like that, wondering why I have never done it like that. Mater of fact, that's the first time I have seen anyone do it. Now that I have seen it I'm going to own the idea and be the first one on my block to do it. Bet it would look cool on my Kaos. :D Great looking plane!!!!!!!!! |

Thanks for the comments. It is a pitts muffler on an OS 61 FX. Cleanup isn't any worse than normal.

These are the BEST flying planes. I've had several myself, and am finishing up yet another kit. We've flown these things with everything from a .46 up to 1.4 gassers. You can have one in the air in under a week. Last I heard Max was even looking to ARF it, and I still think he puts out the occasional kits. Not sure about how much and how often, though. Heck, you can scratch build one of these planes with an extra week tacked on.

I really like the "shadow" color.
I'm interested in how you achieved that effect. Could you shoot a close-up of one wing, or the eagle?? |

The covering was done with monokote. I used Paintshop Pro to create my patterns and then printed them out. After taping the multiple printouts needed, I taped them together and cut out my pattern to trace onto the monokote. The monokote was then cut out with a sharp exacto and positioned using the windex application technique. Once the windex had dried I used my iron to ensure everything was sealed permanently.
The monokote colors were metallic blue for the base covering, metallic teal for the middle pattern, and pearl white for the topmost pattern. I got the inspiration for the cover design from [link=http://www.airbornekustomz.com/aircraft/N274US2.jpg]Airbonne Kustomz[/link]. Those guys do some amazing work. Here is a closeup of the eagle: |
