I'm not aware of any real difference there.

I prefer Ultracote because of its multi temperature aspects which, to me, make it easier to work with. It also has more of a "painted" appearance than does the rather plastic shine of Monokote.

It is a personal choice, I've seen many award winning Monokote jobs and have friends who swear by it --- I find Ultracote fits my skills better.

Well, I just finished covering my first plane, an LT-40. I can definatly say that Ultracote made the job a pleasure. It went on great, you could peel it off and put it back on, and it shrinks nicely under the heat gun. I don't think I will try anothe brand, because this one worked so well..

I usually use MonoKote but Ultracote is easier to work with, it seems to have better stretch characteristics and can be repositioned.

I have not noticed any difference in strength and my choice of MonoKote over Ultracote is just a weight factor (I find that most colors that I use Ultracote is heavier).

I have used both, monocote first then ultracote many times once you try ultracote you will love it. it also trims over itself with second and third color schemes very well.

I used oracover from hobby lobby on last project. loved it! they make ultracote, and it's only $10.50 per roll. would recommend it to everyone.

I always used to use monokote but on my last plane I decided to switch. I received quite a few compliments on how great this covering job was. It was very easy to work and I'll never go back to Monokote.
