First Kit build
 

Hello,

I'm in the hobby for four years now and build a bunch of ARF's.

Now I'm starting with Kit building and already have a question:

I plastified my plans, but worry about glueing the balsa to the plans, how can I prevend this?
I read about wax-paper or something like that, but have now idea what this is or how it works.

Can anyone help me?

There are various ways. I glued cork board to my bench and pinned the plans to the cork and then pinned a sheet of clear cling wrap over the plans. The glue wont stick to the cling wrap and its easy to see through.

Wax paper is still available here in the states. Generally, it is found in grocery stores. It is a translucent material with a wax coating on both sides. Used to be used as sandwich wrap or a covering for baked goods that the sticky/gooey stuff won't stick to.

Greatplanes sells plan protector plastic. I have used it and it's pretty good and not too expensive.

If you use CA glue, it sticks to waxed paper. I switched to plastic sheeting (paint tarps) available at the home centers. 1 mil or less in thickness is about right.

I use cling wrap.
It goes by a few names, I think in the USA they call it Saran? wrap.

Either way, whatever you wrap your sandwiches in will do, super thin plastic thats comes on a roll.

I use it to cover my plans and as a seperator between parts for alignment purposes when gluing.
CA, Epoxy, and wood glue do not stick to it and it's crystal clear.

Sticks to itself pretty good too, makes rolling out longer pieces a mongrel[&o]
