I was installing the lower wing on my GP ultimate bipe and somehow the wings must have moved when drilling the holes for the wing bolts. using a string to measure the distance from the tail to the wing tips the wing is off by about 1/4 of an inch. Should I be concerned? If so how do i fix it. Thanks

every day fun flying you'll never notice any difference, very precise type flying the trim will be a little off,so depends on your skill and type of flying. To cure, plug the holes and re drill.

TerrellFlyer has the right answer. You're the only one that knows it is not right so, if you don't tell anyone they will never notice it. But, if you want to fix it just enlarge the hole(s) and epoxy in a plug cut from a dowel and redrill the wing mount hole(s).

If it were me, I'd plug the holes and re-drill as already suggested, it takes very litttle time. If you're worried about strength, laminate some 1/16 ply over the surface after plugging the holes.

You can also plug the holes with epoxy mixed with balsa dust (mix the epoxy well before adding the dust). Put masking tape over the lower opening and fill from the top. This is a very strong filler. But don't use this method if the hole is open to a cavity within the wing. it will take too much epoxy and weigh too much.

It might be easier to plug the mounting block(s) in the fuselage and re-drill them. It's also a much less noticable fix if the holes in the wing are suitably square now. Easier to align the new holes, too, as the wing holes are the guide.

I wouldn't use the epoxy and dust method, it will be harder than the wood around it and could cause the drill (or more likely, the tap) to go off center. Just plug it with a piece of dowel as suggested and re-drill.

Thanks everybody. My other concern was that the wing strut wouldn't align properly. So i will plug with dowel and do again. Thanks for the help.

A dowel and re-drill seems like the only correct fix for this one.
