sheeting turtle deck RV4
Ello,
I have already cut the sheeting but I don't really know how to bend it. The manual says to apply water on one side of the balsa but I am afraid that it may dissolve the glue (I am using regular wood glue) What's the best way to do this? |

Use a mix of ammonia and water, the ammonia helps the water to soak in and expand the fibers. Don't worry about the wood glue, it will dry just fine. I use wood glue when I apply sheeting. Have plenty of pins on hand to pin down the sheeting. It also makes it easier to sheet if you wet the sheeting and wrap it around a pipe or can and hold it in place with rubber bands till its dry. The sheeting then will be prebent for you.

I hope your wood was as easy to bend (after wetting) as mine was - curved over the formers very easily!

You can wet the sheet, pin it or tape it in place and allow it to dry before glueing. After it dries it will almost conform to the shape you want by itself. You could also use thin CA while the sheet is wet. I use a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and water.
