I'll start it next week if there is any interest:D
All my stuff will be here next week and that will give me time to finish up the US60 build im working at now this weekend. Gotta clean the garage a little also.
So any weeks fans out there??? any interest??

I'm in, I like the Solution series and I have the Extra 260 plans from Dave as well. If yours builds well, I may get one of the bigger ones or the Weeks Special for a G-62 sitting collecting dust at the moment.

Well the "Builders Kit" arrived today and for the price it is impressive and better then i thought it would be:D
The Cabane wires are pre bent and also soldered quit nicely. The Canopy is clear with out a scratch and wrapped in plastic to keep it that way. With just a little studying the plans are easy to understand and clear for the most part. You are also provided with a short manual with out pictures but it reads as though it will get you over the sticky parts of the build. The Landing Gear is bright shiny aluminum with no pre drilled holes.
There really is not that many parts that need to be made to make up the kit. After studying the plans it looks like it will be a fairly easy build if you have some experience building kits.
Im not sure but i think the plans are scaled down from the original soultion x plans. I'll be comparing them to the full size tomorrow.
As soon as i get all the parts cut out and sanded i'll start posting pic's of the build:D

I have an old Ace kit of the Miles Reed Weeks Special and I've heard it is a great flyer. Whats the difference between the Special and the Solution?

The Special looks totally different and i have herd that the special had problems with a few maneuvers. So the Solution X was designed to cure some of the specials undesirable flight characteristics.

Ok looks like there is not much interest but here goes anyway.

I have all the parts cut out now and ready to start building:D
Cutting from plans is sometimes a problem for some one that has never done it. SOOoooo here is how i do it and it works for me.
First get some carbon paper and trace the part onto a sheet of paper. Then you can take that paper with your part on it and trace it onto the balsa. Cut it out close to the line and that finish it up by sanding it and checking it against the plans until you have a part that matches.
I usually make my parts up in sub assemblies where ever i can so that when one part is drying i can be working on something else where possible. It does speed up the build and keeps you busy;)

I have to say something about these plans. After cutting out all parts and dry fitting all that i can. The parts fit is EXCELLENT with only one problem. The wing ribs on my plans do not match the wing spars. If the spars are cut to the rib plan the spars are off by 1/8in when checked against the wing plan. Not a problem at all as long as you know it before you cut the spar slots in the ribs. I made mine match the wing;).
The plans are scaled down from the Solution X and the only real difference is the wood sizes. If you have ever went to bed wondering what your gonna do of fix something from Hostetler plans your gonna LOVE these plans[8D]

keep posting, i'm interested, it makes decision easier later whether to get this plane or not.
And it makes you look at the project not as an ARF but as a flying effort.

Keep posting, I have the 77" Solution X Kit on order and it should be here in about a week. I am also thinking of the Big Solution XX.

Please keep posting. I just bought a 70" in bones. Need to do wing tips, cap strips, servo mounts etc. Looking forward to pictures.
