Did something Stupid

OK guys and gals. Did something not so smart, I glued a ply wing tip to a root rib. With medium CA. It is a 4* 40 by the way. How would I go about getting that off without messing up the root rib. I think I can take it off little by little with a table top belt/disc sander. If anyone has an idea please let me know. Thanks:confused:

Can you use a razor saw to cut through from both sides?? If you score the ply over and over with a long razor knife you can cut through the ply and sand off the rest.

Has the wing center section been sheeted yet? If not I would probably consider cutting the root rib and ply rib out, and making a new root rib. It would not have to be absolutely perfect since it will be sheeted over anyway. Just remember to set the dihedral angle.

If its already sheeted then I would try the razor saw technique, then sand with coarse sandpaper- on a long sanding block to make sure everything stays straight. Slow but probably do-able. Luckily any imperfections that result will not show once you join the wings together and finish the seam!

Dropping acetone along the CA glue joint will weaken the glue enough to separate. Then lightly sand the surface. Pete

Sounds like a lot of work for little reward.

Why not just trace the parts onto another piece a wood and cut new parts?

ooops!

The store where you buy your Ca probably sells "debonder".
It's in a green label bottle, same size as Ca.
It works fine.
Also called "un-cure"....croz

Just break it off. What little damage occurs won't hurt anything structurally.

Too much work

I agree with Jim just leave what you have and use it and cut the extra piece you need from an outline. Or just cut both pieces from fresh wood. Who knows it might even be fun with a little sawdust in the sun . :)

So I dont guess the wing tip will hurt the dihedral if I leave it on. If it wont mess it up I will leave the thing on there and cut another one. Thanks:D
