Well I am just about ready to start covering my first kit. It's a Top Flight Contender Gold Edition. It was just challenging enough to keep me interested without making it tough. So far I am happy with the results.

Here is a link to the progess of my Contender and two more RCU members, Charlie P. and hoverit. See what you think.

You will get many, many more ideas. I built the one I thought looked good to me and my instructor said would make a good second plane.

Good luck with what ever you choose and keep us posted with pictures.

Could you be a little more Pacific?
What size?
How much flight experience do you have?
What kind of flying do you want to do?
How many wings you want?
What color is your grandma's underwear?

P.S. My first kit..... http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAP61&P=7 :D

Any trainer, I just did a SIG Somethin' Extra and a Kadet Senior. My first kit was my trainer and the second was a House of Balsa .20 P-51. If you have decent woodworking skills, you should be able to tackle any kit. I would just suggest you find an experienced builder to run things past.

You're welcome
I really enjoyed building the Star-Duster in the link above.
Can't give you a flight report, as it is in the dreaded covering stage.
Have heard it said it is one of R/C's best kept secrets.

4* or astro hog

IMHO I think the Sig Astro Hog or Sig 4* 40 or 60 offer the sport flyer both docile flights and slow landings but if you want the aerobatic capibilities it can make even a fair pilot look good and confident.

GP Cap 232. My second kit(1st after 15 years). Fairly easy kit and fun to fly when it's done. Good aerobatics, lots of rudder for great knife edge performance. Also not everybody owns one.

Starduster is a terrific flyer!!

Hello Al, Steve mentioned the Starduster and I just had to chime in!!;) I built one last winter as my first kit. I flew it all last summer with a .56 Saito for power. What a great flying little plane!!! It was my second year of flying so it would be hard to give an "experienced" report....... except...... I let 2 other seasoned pilots fly it and they confirmed it was a good flyer. I built a Sig 4*120 and Sig LT-25 this winter, and I will say that the Sig laser cut parts MAY? make it a little easier to build straight. BUT...... I wanted something different than a 4* 40 ..... and this thing gets mistaken for the 4* all the time.
See my attached photo.

PS... If you build one, I would advise to add a hatch for the tank. (4* does not have one in their plans either).

Good luck.....lownslo...

Hi pcrum

In my opinion for what it's worth, you can't go past a Goldberg Tiger II. A smooth flying .40 to .46 size low wing sports/aerobatic aircraft. Mine has about 40 hrs flying on it without even a scratch. Now flying Imac and pattern aircraft, but for a .40 size plane it is one of the smoothest.

I will give a big DITTO to the Goldberg Tigers.

Also a Great Planes easy sport, Super Sport, or UltraSport
