Poly Glue ??

A club member recently said there was a new glue out that was polyurethane type. It is suppose to expand after being exposed to air and would swell into the pores of the wood, hence giving a stronger joint. He also said modelers were using it to sheet foam wing. Info would be appreciated.

Poly Glue ??

Yep, it's made by Elmers. Do a search on here for Pro-Bond. I used it for the first time to glue the stab on my S.E. I won't do that again as it expanded out the joint and was a pain to clean up in preparation to cover. I then used it to glue the Robart Hinge Points in. Again, the expanding nature of the glue dictates that you don't use too much and must make sure to get it down in the hole or it will expand back into the hinge knuckle. I'm going to try it on a set of foam cores as well as the retract landing gear blocks next. It is very strong, but I think it has it's uses.

It is available in several brand names, Elmer's Pro Bond, PL, and Gorilla Glue. It can be purchased at most hardware, or home supply stores. Poly glue is not suitable for all applications as the above post indicated. It is however unparalleled for sheeting foam core wings, the bond is far superior to anything I have ever used.
