A question to those of you who have built this kit. I am currently sheeting the wing and really do not like the 1/16 inch sheeting that has been applied to the outer wing sections. I feel that it is just to weak. I alreday have stuck my finger through it once.

I am thinking about adding another 1/16 inch sheet on top of wht is there using contact cement. I do not think weight will be a problem as I am using two 40's. I think it will jsut help in general making it stronger.

Your thoughts please.

Thanks
Scott

1/16" sheeting is fine. You just have to be careful how you handle the wing.

I wasn't crazy about that either, but after it's covered, it will be fine. I don't think I would add the weight, however minimal it may seem. After the thing is built, you won't be handling it by the outer wing panels anyway.

I wouldn't worry about the weight you would be adding, but I would worry about the way it would change the airfoil. I wouldn't do it. You could take the wood off and use a harder piece of 1/6 or put maybe 1/64 inch ply on it. That wouldn't change the shape of the airfoil as much as 1/16th would.

What about 1/32 balsa?
