RE: trainer for gas kit

Do you mean Gasoline engines (usually 20cc and larger) or Nitro (Methanol) engines

If you mean Gasoline engines - look at

Giant Telemaster
Kangke Rearwin Speedster or Monocoupe

If you mean Nitro
the list is enormous

Back when everyone had to build his first model, and I was instructing regularly, I felt that the Midwest AeroStar 40 was the best trainer. Don't know if it is still available. I have flown dozens of them, and only one did not fly well. Never did figure what was wrong with it the student didn't hang around.

If you mean gasoline powered, maybe the Super Flyin' King

This is not for the weak of heart. The kit is over $500, the engine shown on the site is over $800, it needs a pile of accessories and many rolls of covering.

If you really just meant that you want an engine versus an electric motor, a .40 or .60 size glow fuel powered trainer is easy to find and relatively inexpensive. This is a small sample of what's out there:
Goldberg Falcon III
Goldberg Eagle 2
Great Planes PT-40 or PT-60
Midwest Aero-Star 40
SIG LT-40
