Page Gee Bee Z - what engine?
 

Help requested from Gee Bee enthusiasts, please.

I'm building an Adrian Page Gee Bee Z kit and just happen to have an OS 52 four stroke available. Will this be enough to power it - or should I go for something bigger?

Also, any tips on how to land it without it pitching over - as I believe it's prone to do?

Much appreciate any advice.

It may help to mount all your heavy stuff as low in the fuse as possible. That fat fuselage hides the fact that the prop shaft is a long way above the ground.

I'm flying one of his R2's and it's a great flyer but a bear to land for just that reason.......you get it just about stopped and then it flips over and you go home and repair the fin and maybe the cowl.

As to power, I'm not sure what's 'enough' for the "Z". The R2 is designed for .60 2 stroke or .90 4 stroke and the YS 91 fz is embarrasingly too much!

1. I saw one flying with a Saito 56 and it flew great but landing on grass is a nose-over magnet.

2. The builder had moved the gear 1/2" forward to help minimize that problem.

It will be flying off grass, so moving the gear forward sounds like a good idea - I'll try that.
