3rd plane
 

I'm looking for some recommendations for a new building project. I've built a fine BTE Venture 60 (about a year ago) and now want something to build. I was thinking of the Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Sport Biplane Kit from tower. I'm torn between something fast or something aerobatic. Not too interested in warbirds.

Is there something that will satisfy both of my cravings?

This CG Ultimate is a great kit to build, it is highly aerobatic and it is also a fast biplane if fitted with the appropriate propeller, there are some build threads that will be helpful on your build and will be great if you decide to post your building process.

I think that BTE kit will spoil you for any other kits out there. Nothing else seems to match the quality! I really liked my Sig Somethin' Extra. With a cowl over the engine it was quite a bit faster than a stock uncowled version. A nice build and very aerobatic.

Difficult question to answer. Since everyone's experiences and skill levels are different, a third plane recommendation will vary from person to person. My experiece has been with Great Plane kits. I have built four kits: PT-40, Easy Sport, Dazzler, and Giles. The last two might be of interest to you. Dazzler is similar to the Something Extra. Slow flying aerobatic model. The Giles is highly aerobatic. Similar to the Giles would be the GP Extra 300. Great Planes kits have very good and detailed instructions.

If your interest goes more into sport flying, you might want to take a look at the GP Ultra Sport 40 or 60 size. This model has the reputation of being the best sport flying ever. This, I will find out when I finish mine. A pile of wood of this model is now on my building board and this week I started to plan the building process.

I haven't build a CG kit. So, I cannot help there.
