Have read all the posts i can find..... sounds like a great first kit im currently finishing an arf but want to build a plane myself.... the question i have is the os 52 4 stroker strong enough to pull the uproar 40 around??? Will i get good vertical???

The OS 52 4s will fly the plane nicely, but it will not give you unlimited vertical. An OS 46 FX, with an APC 12.25x3.75 prop will hover the plane, if you don't build it too heavy.

And just incidentally, the fellow that Yogi Bear was named after is 78 years old today, May 12th.

His name? Yogi Berra, what else? A member of the New York Yankees baseball team.

Probably, but I think it would be marginal.

Try it and see.

Or maybe someone else has tried it.

OK i have an old irvine mark II .46 which rocks and irvine is the other brand i would consider for my question is , is the irvine .53 to much engine and in that case i should go for the .46 or is the extra power i good idea i would be flying with low pitch props for funfly type flying

The Irvine 46 should make you very happy. Again, use the 12.25x3.75 APC, or if you can't find one a 12x4 APC will work almost as well.

Has anyone tried an OS 70 on the 40 sized Uproar? Is it too much for this plane?

I had a Uproar.40 with an OS LA .40 and it was good flyer. There are certainly more powerful engines out there but in my opinoin the LAs are very user friendly and dependable. I know some people dislike them but I love them. I have now started on building the .60 size to replace it.

Naw, a 4 stroke is too heavy in my opinion. I put an OS .32SX with an APC 10/5 on mine and unlimited vertical is the name of the game. Will hover better than I can fly it too. It will also putt putt along at walking speed and scream into rolls like its mounted on a Makita or something.
The OS .32SX is the perfect engine for this plane and allows you to balance it without adding any lead and using mini servos for the ailerons, elevator and rudder (HS225). Used a Futaba 148 for the throttle.
