Identification Help
1 Attachment(s)
Anybody recognize this airplane? Wingspan 72 1/4" tip to tip, fuse is 56 1/2 nose to tail, balsa built-up cowl. I'm assuming its a Dave Patrick by the stamp, but unsure of model or age. A friend picked it up at a garage sale, with the OS 120 Surpass and an older Airtronics radio system for a almost nothing. I'm in the process of covering/recovering it. It was never finished, and therefore has never seen the sky.
How about it fella's? Any ideas? |
RE: Identification Help
The "DP" branding is a little puzzling, but to me it looks a lot like a Great Planes "Super Sportster".

RE: Identification Help
I thought it looked like the SuperSportster 90-120 also, but thought maybe the older Patricks bore the "DP" stamp. Possibly the original builders initials.

RE: Identification Help
Or DP can stand for Doubler Plate, if its a newer great planes kit it was probably a part identification stamp. My Ultrasport 40+ had them in different places one being on the wing bolt doubler plate. and the wing joiner was stamped as well. just another opinion on what the dp is.

RE: Identification Help
It is a SuperSportster 90-120 from Great planes. I still have the book on mine if you need any info.

RE: Identification Help
Thanks for the verification David. I found the manual online and forwarded a copy to the owner. Appreciate all the help.
BTW David, how did it fly? We had a 40 size at the field that was extremely fast and seemed to glide forever on approach. Does the bigger one have the same tendencies? PM is fine. |
RE: Identification Help
Couldn't have you said that a "friend of mine" had a 40 size at the field that was extremely fast and seemed to glide forever on approach?
My feelings are hurt. |
