CG Location
 

I am building a Sig Hog Bipe kit and need to know the CG location and the range. Any help please. Sig is closed on the weekends and I am ready to fly.

This works on MOST biplanes:

Let's say the cord of the wings is 12" Topo wing cord is 12" and so is the bottom wing cord.

And let's assume the leading edge of the top wing is sitting 4" in front of the bottom wing leading edge.

If you add 4 + 12, you get 16.

So, think of it like you have a wing with a 16" cord. From the farthest point forward (LE of top wing) to the farthest point back (TE of the bottom wing) you got 16"

Most planes will fly when balanced between 25% and 30% of the cord.

You got a 16" cord. So 25% of that is 4". 30% is 4.8"

Now start at the leading edge of the top wing. In the center of the wing. And measure back about 4" - 4.5". Thats your balance point for the first couple flights. It's not perfect. You'll have to fly it and adjust it a bit to suite your flying style. It may seam REALLY far back on the top wing, but remember you are balancing the ENTIRE cord of both wings. It works.

I guarantee you won't crash it by balancing it like this. [sm=thumbs_up.gif]
