Bucker Reborn !!
1 Attachment(s)
I built a Goldberg Bucker back in '03 (my, time flies), flew it a couple of seasons, then mothballed it for a variety of reasons. Here's the link to the original thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_70..._bucker/tm.htm
This spring, I was looking for a project and decided to refurbish the Bucker and get it back to flying condition. First order of biz was to change the engine setup to accommodate my OS 120 AX since the original Saito 150 had been sold. I also wanted a color scheme that offered better visibility, so I chose a yellow Monokote, with Ultracote (Oracover) checkerboard combination. The hardest part of the project was stripping, filling, painting the plastic bits, but I was lucky to find a fuel-proof paint locally that's a perfect match to the covering. Here r the results. Test flights went great, the plane flies as well as ever - better than before actually, because the new covering is lighter than the original fabric / dope covering and the OS 120 hauls :D |
RE: Bucker Reborn !!
Claire (AZCAT), by the way the CG you suggested 3/4" ahead of the rear cabane mounting hole is spot on, thanks.

RE: Bucker Reborn !!
Luvbipes,
All I can say is I'M JELOUS!!:D. That is one awesome looking Buker. Do you have any problem seeing the plane in the air since the tops and bottoms of the wings are the same color? I have the plans for a larger scale Buker Jungman (I think) that show a US41 engine in it that I would love to build one day when (and if) my building abilities catch up with my dreams.:) |
RE: Bucker Reborn !!
David, thanks for the kind words. Ive had no problem seeing the attitude of the plane in its current all-yellow trim scheme. I find biplanes are easier to see because the 2 wings help with orientation.
Whose are they by, your plans for the larger Bucker?? |
RE: Bucker Reborn !!
Luvbipes,
If I can remember to look at the plans when I get home, I'll let you know tomorow. |
Old thread, but I thought I'd add to it with some action shots for fans of the CG Bucker to enjoy.
