Identify this trainer?
1 Attachment(s)
A very generous man donated this model to my club as a club trainer. I'd like to call it by it's proper name, but I don't recognize it. It's a 40 size trainer, for sure, even though there's a Magnum 61 in the nose. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

RE: Identify this trainer?
Looks like a Goldberg Eagle with the L/E sheeted.

RE: Identify this trainer?
That's what I thought at first, but this plane's horizontal tail is in the middle of the fuselage frame, whereas the Eagle's is on top of the fuselage box. And the Eagle has a plastic windshield in front...

RE: Identify this trainer?
Looks like an LT40 - the tail and windshield and tank hatch match but the wing tips are flat whereas the LT40 have sloped wing tips. Also the rudder control is on the opposite side from the LT40.

RE: Identify this trainer?
Could be a Tower Trainer 40 kit. or a recovered ARF. Or could be a recovered Hobbico SuperStar.
The Goldberg Eagles have windows in the font and sides under the wing where the rest have solid ply. The front would be difficult to convert to wood because the wing sits on top of the window plastic. But the sides could have been just covered over and not installed. The wing leading edge would also be difficult to sheet as the leading edge on them were dowel rods. |

It looks like my PT-40 form GP

RE: Identify this trainer?
It could be just about anything. I would guess that it is an ARF that has been refurbished by removing plastic wing tips and changing out the landing gear. I'd just call it "club trainer."

carrellh - I think you've got it right. Thanks. This will be CT-1, plain and simple.

I was thinking of a Duke's Mixture?
Here's my LT 40 http://image2-6.rcuniverse.com/e1/ga.../lg-123520.jpghttp://image2-6.rcuniverse.com/e1/ga.../lg-123514.jpg |

One of the HobbiCo ads here was of a HobbiStar60. Looks like a recovered one without the plastic wingtips.
