HELP....Whats this plane called

OK....This is a question for some of the people who have been in this hobby for 15-20 years. When I was a kid I built a kit that Tower sold. This was a fun flyer type plane with a dimond shaped airfoil. It had a fiberglass tube fuse (3/8-1/2) round that went through the wing so the tail stabs would glue to. This tube type fuse was also glued to the motor mount. I want to say it was a .25 size plane and had wire landing gear at each wing tip that scewed into the spar and went to the ground. May have had a wire in the rear to act as tail gear. I called Tower and no one could remember it.

Do any of you remember this plane and who made it? I would like to find a set of plans for it, hope someone would have a set in there basement or somewhere.

Thanks,

John

Let me look in an old catalog, it's made by tower or just sold by tower?

If I remember it was in the back of there book in the black and white pages.

wow, I didn't read that right, the only plane I know of that has wheels in the tips of the wing was made by cressline models, and it was called the Quickie, they also made the long-ez as well.

RE: HELP....Whats this plane called

Nope, it was more of a fun flyer. Big dimond shaped airfoil. The fuse was just a small tube from the wing to the tail.

No wheels on the wing tips. Just bent wire on the wing tips that scewed into the spar and went to the ground. Where the wire meets the ground it wast bent so it would drag.

I know what your talking about now, it was a thick straight chord wing, and it had a F/G tube that ran through it to the tail, and a mount plate in front for the engine, kinda like a pre ugly stick, but with out the box fuselage, just a F/G tube to tie the whole thing together.

Nope, not it. Was more of a fun flyer not a combat plane. Fuse was a bit longer also.

That looks like it, but not it. The wing did not taper down like that at the tips. The diamonds where larger. The ailerons where also larger, in the 4-5 inch range and did not taper.

I wish I could think of it[:@]

Thanks

RE: HELP....Whats this plane called

From the sounds of it, it's an old competition fun fly plane. Diamond airfoil, tube fuse, barn door ailerons, wing tip skids. I know exactly the plane you're describing since an old club member used to fly one. Just cant think of the name. Try googlin' "competition fun fly"
