Gee Bee

Has anyone built a Spirit of Yesteryear kit? I'd kinda like to tackle that Gee Bee model D kit, but at 125.00 plus shipping, it would
sure make it easier to turn loose of that money if I knew that it was worth it.
I bought the Coverite version in the late seventies. Too bad I let a friend talk me out of it.
I quess I have another chance now!

Iv built several of the Coverite kits and the Spirit of Yesteryear is a direct copy of them. No differance in building. Great Kit

I built the Coverite D a few years ago. Not for a beginner builder or flyer, but if you have experince with both, you will be OK.

SOY yesterday has upgraded some of the old Coverrite kits. They are now laser cut and they tweeked the instructions. If you go to Toledo, you can pick one up there. I'm waiting for them to update the Chester's Jeep.

I covered it with Super Coverite and had an OS .46SF in it. It was wicked fast.;)

Hi- I bought the plans from Henry Haffke a few years back after buying his book about Gee Bees and modified the build to the Gee Bee Model 'X' as flown by Lowell Bayles in the Cirrus Derby. It was a great sport scale flier! I made the landing gear and put on rigging wires. It was very striking in its black and white with orange trim livery! I flew it with an OS40fs. The Coverite Jeep (also by H.Haffke) was the best flying little airplane of all!

I have built both the Coverite and Spirit of Yesteryear kits. Kit is a pretty straight forward build, just be sure to check rib alignment on wing prior to gluing, particularly the washout area.

Has anyone come across any decals for this kit? My decals are in pretty rough shape, and I'm looking for some new ones.
