I have found a one of these kits for sale and was wondering how they where. I thought I had read some time ago they where out of buisness. Also no luck finding a website. The kit in question is the 25% extra. This would be my 3rd build if I decide to go with it. Any comments on the kit and/or this company. Thanks.......Dave

You may find the kit a bit challenging, they assume that you are an accomplished (experienced) builder when you buy one of their kits. They are a good quality kit, just a little skimpy on the instructions and diagrams. They build into very nice airplanes if you take the time to build one. I am currently building the 84" Sukhoi, I have to stop and read and evaluate the plans quite a bit to ensure I'm not doing something I will regret later, I've been building planes for 17 years. I just traded off my 70" Ohio Extra 300, it was a little easier to build than the Sukhoi is. Here's a pic of the Ohio Sukhoi to give you an idea of how they build up.

I agree the instructions are horrible. I have a 33% giles 300. I put it back in the box. I have only built 4 kits before this. Oh well I will either sell it or try again next year.

GEEZ, scare me away why dont ya. :eek: Ok, I think I'll pass on this one. What would you guys recomend for a 25-27% extra that would go together fairly easily? I doesnt have to be a complete build but I would rather not have an arc. I'm limmited to this size for transportation reasons. Thanks .......dave

I'm about half done with the Midwest 27% EXTRA, it's a real nice kit I think, much more user friendly then some of the smaller kits I've built. At 80" span, one piece wing could be a drawback though for some. I'm going to haul mine in my Mitsu PU, by making a jig/holder for the wing out of PVC, I've got a few different ideas in my head about it. It should be no prob though for even a small truck.
Now if you have a car, that will present a problem. The wife drives a mid-size 2 door, and there's no way on earth the car would transport that plane.

All in all though, it is a very nice kit. I've built several over the years, and this one is right up with the best of them. If you've built and are experienced with smaller planes, the Midwest is a decent transition.

I'll have to agree with the Midwest Extra, I'm building the 27% Midwest Cap right now (new style kit with airfoiled stab), it's as straight forward as your gonna get for that scale.

I built one of the 28% Giles 300. Man was it a pain in the a_s to build. The instructions weren't any help and the plans were just ok. If you can't build from plans and a lot of imagination, don't try one. As far as flying goes, it is by far the best plane I've ever flown. Weighs 11.5 lbs with a Saito 180 up front and tracks like a dream. I've only got about 8 flights on it, so as far as radical 3D stuff, I can't comment on that. It does a great knife edge and a violent blender. You will love the finished plane, just not the work it takes to get there.

I built the Giles 202 and yes, it was a builder...but refreshing to build something without all the directions saying "Glue part A to part B" etc. I enjoyed it, but then again, I enjoy building:)

[/ QUOTE]Bashace like your photos is that a Greatplanes cap 232 sure looks like one to me. I have one and covered it with monocote did a color schiem as close as possible to the box and it came out very well. I've flown it quite a few times several times I tipstalled it so I put a 60 in it. Will try again I do know that you cann't fly these babies slow or think you can slip it in at a slow speed. But I know that a few times I got into trouble because of too little power. Had a mag 42 in it. :D :D :cool: :cool: :idea:

that's a GP's Cap, good eye for detail, check out some of my other threads concerning Cap issues, might find some helpful reading on their little stalling habits.
