Wing dowel - is this the right thing?
Hello,
I realize that this is a stupid question but I rather ask than to buy the wrong thing. I am looking for 1/4" wing dowel and I am not able to find it localy in my hobby shop - they told me to go to Lowes but they don't have the proper size... So I found Birch dowel at Hobby-Lobby (http://www.hobby-lobby.com/1_4x36_b...l_2718_prd1.htm) but I want to make sure that it is the right kind before to place my order. I want the really hard wood since it is to secure my wings to the fuselage. Thank you for your help, Le fou |

Hey Le fou
you might also try the local hardware store. I can usually get 1/4 dowel from Ace or True Value. I can usually find it as well at Lowes/Home Depot. Doug |

And yes, the birch will work just fine

a 1/4" birch dowel from Lowe's will work fine. Only question is making sure it is sufficiently sized for the airplane you intend to use it on.

right... What sort of model is this going on?
I've used scrap carbon fiber pushrods filled with epoxy mixed with microballons... I save the scrap ends whenever I use CF pushrods... |

I'm not even sure what the different dowel wood is that comes in kits these days but I just buy my dowel wood from any hardware store. I use two dowels on my planes and it's usually 1/4 or 5/16. So far no dowel has ever broken.
