OOPS! Wrong Glue?
 

Hello guys. I got a question, I have taken sometime between building kits. I now have the RV-4 kit and I'm in the middle of it, last night I did a bad thing I think? it seems that I installed the landing gear plywood plate with only CA glue I also used CA for the wing mount plate what can be done at this stage everything has set overnight I am not very smart and this mistake proves that.

any advise would be great..

Build a fillet with thin CA and baking soda. Run the baking soda around all the joints and then soak it with thin CA.

Don't worry about it. Build the fillets and go fly it. [8D]

Don’t know RV-4 and don’t know how significant the mistake is, I did something similar to your mistakes.

Clean it and around it first to have some cleaner wood in these areas.
The way I reinforce the LG and wing plates is by adding tri stocks or other harder then balsa wood with 30 min epoxy this time, now cover that with fiberglass and epoxy to the fuse about 1 inch extra to the sides, this way it holds better to the fuselage.

About the Baking soda and CA, how big of a fillet this method can help with, is it strong?

I don't recommend using the CA and backing soda trick as once it is set it's very rigged and bound to fracture once the gear takes a hard landing. I would do as Alex has suggested and use 30 minute epoxy and some 1/4" or the largest size triangle stick stock that will fit within the tight confines of the fuselage. Epoxy's properties allow a great deal of energy to be adsorbed before it will let go. Unlike CA, it's extremely stiff and depends on the wood to absorb the energy. More times then not, it'll fracture.

Thanks Guys I used the Epoxy and Tirangles with fillets It should hold well I hopfully I will not do that again
