Kaos mod problem!

hi guys i'm almost done with my kaos.............i modified it to have 2 servos for the alirons.......it's the tower kaos...........i was treading the servo wire through when it and the thread seperated............now i cant get the wire through any ideas?

RP:

Just the standard thing: tie a weight on a new length of string and let gravity pull it through.

And be more careful next time.

Bill.

I also use a yellow piece of nyrod, put it through to the servo hole, tape the wire to it, and pull it back through.

my brain just hached an idea..........a flexible push rod?

I use Bill's method

A piece of pull-chain (like the ones on light fixtures) works well too.

What they said.
I tend to use a length of solder with a wheel collar on the end since I always know where my roll of solder is but can never find the piece of string or thread I used last. Sometimes the advantage of a length of solder is that you can "bias" it in a certain direction if the holes are offset.

I assume you got your servo wire fished. I'm just starting my Kaos and was thinking about doing the same thing. Was wondering what you did. I assume it wasn't two servos side by side in the fuse. (Probably wouldn't fit.) Was it a trick to beef up the wing to hold the servos? How does it fly? Are you using Flaperons or coupled elevater/ailerons? I was thinking of putting a saito 56 or 72 in the front end (if the prop will clear) and also thought about putting the elevator and rudder servos near the tail feathers rather than using lead back there. Opinions?

use the saito 72......i am done with it.......it wasnt hard to do.....first i finished the wing then i took some hard wood and put it between two ribs and epoxed it in after takeing the servo and making sure it fit......then i took some 1/8" balsa and put it over the hard wood......then cut holes in it for the servo......then i just bolted it in......it flys great only thing is i got my aliron throws as far as they go and it still dips alittle at 3/4 throttle.

I used two HS-225 servos side by side for my dual ailerons. Fits in the Kaos fuse with no problems. Works fine.

Some of you may think this is a dumb comment, but I happen to think that adding a second servo to the Kaos wing is a dumb wast of time, money, weight and complication which accomplishes absolutely nothing. All this crap about seperate aileron servos adding "authority" to the controls for a plane this size is sheer baloney. A single servo attached to solidly mounted torque rods provides more that ample "authority".

edrunkrc,

I don't use them for more "authority", I use separate ailerons to enable me to use flaparons. Flaps are fun!

Easiest method with clean looks is to use strip aileron torque rods each running to an individual servo mounted side by side instead of the rods running one servo. Same as FubarOne

it helps alot to have spoilers when your landing this plane also

Kaos Rulz 07-10-2003 05:14 PM

Spoilers for a Kaos.........

.........what's up with that? Every Kaos I've flown, could land very slow and stable.

I agree with the slow flight characteristics of the Kaos. However I am considering using 2 servos to experiment with flaperons. Not that it needs them but I would rather build them in than retrofit another plane with them. I am also considering adding a turtle deck or upper fuselage and a different canopy to the build. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas? Any other modes you could share? Photos would also be great.

thats not a bad idea.......you mite want to inbed the servos in the wing more though......oh and yes it does land good with no mods i just like the spoilers to slow me down.

I'm very curious how the spoilers work for this plane. Please post results when you have them. Thanks........

How does she act with more than 8%?

the nose drops alot and you have to hold up elv. to keep it straight......the you cant line up with the runway as well.

I just got this kit a few days ago, the aileron wires are so stiff that it would take a 1/4 servo to operate them. I'm taking you guys lead and putting in dual servos.

Plus, flaperons do sound like fun! Different approach to flying this design.

I just finished my own 25 size design and I used dual sevoes in it. The use of flaperons and spoilerons are a lot of fun and I can't see how they would hurt using them in a 40 size ship like the Kaos. Use them, you can always go back to using one servo inside the fuse. :D
