Pull Pull Rudder and Tailwheel on TF P-47

I am building a Top Flite P-47 in the .60 to .90 size and I am trying to set it up with a pull pull tailwheel as well as rudder. My question is whether or not I can use the same servo for both. I am having trouble trying to figure out a way to connect the tailwheel linkage using a pull pull system as it is set up for a control rod. Could anyone tell me what they did?

Hi,

you should be able to run two sets of cables from one servo to the rudder and the tail wheel as long as neither has a smaller travel than the servo movement or you may get the servo binding and less than full travel on the other control surface.

Here are the pictures of the plans and you can see in the second picture that there is only 1 arm for the tailwheel and it is connected to the control rod. I think I need to figure out something I can attach to the tailwheel arm that I can connect to both of the pull pull cables.

this is what I did for my TF P-47 60, I used a HD Futaba servo with a large Dubro horn, for the connectors I went with ball links for the pull/pull at the servo, on the retractable tail wheel I used EZ connectors so I could adjust the wire fishing leader cables.

the rudder has a pushrod connected to the servo with a EZ connector so its easy to adjust, I filed a flat in the pushrod and locktited the connector when I was satisfied with the set up, this was my first attempt at having a retractable TW and P/P cables.

I have since refined the method I like better, I use leader crimps at the TW to hold the wires, this could also be done at the rudder as well, and small EZ connectors at the servo arm, it makes it alot easyer to adjust the pull/pull wires, the second set of pics are from my latest FW 190 build

Thanks bigtim. Those pictures help a lot. I was thinking pull pull for the rudder. I might use the same set up as you only using the pull pull for the rudder with the pushrod for the tailwheel. That would make it easier to use the stock tailwheel.
