Struts ...
1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I have this old Bud Nosen Aeronca champ that I purchased. I has struts on it, something I know nothing about relative to RC planes. Can anyone ID what make these are? Is there anything missing? When I lift the model, the bottom picture is the result, why? Thanks! |
RE: Struts ...
Hi,
It appears to me that someone tried to make the gear / struts from scratch and gave up. Most struts have a torque link design that keeps the ram (the rod with the nylon sleeves) in the main tube. Check out the drawing in this link and you can see what I mean. How to lock the ram into the tube looks challenging. Not sure how Id go about that. Is there a spring in the upper tube? Im guessing no. http://www.robart.com/RoboStruts/Spa...arts/660SP.pdf Cheers. |

ORIGINAL: JFranco When I lift the model, the bottom picture is the result, why? That bushing should be fixed to the cylinder with a rivet, or glue or any other means. Check the schematic: |
RE: Struts ...
Just took a closer look at these. There is a spring in the upper tube covered by another piston.
It looked like if a slide everything up into the tube and put a rivet or small screw in the bottom bushing they will work! |
