I have never covered a plane before and need to learn so I can cover my WW1 biplane. Any suggestions?

I know they sell Videos and Books for beginners , But also Minnflyer has some great videos posted on the subject of covering.

I would start there i belive you can find them in the Questions and Answers Forum

just have lots of fresh blades they get very dull quickly and using a dull blade will make things hard.and be sure to check your iron temp setting.with ultracote you use a lower setting than you do with monokote.and get a sock for the iron and a covering mitt for your hand .you be amazed at how easy the covering works.and be PATIENT!!

Of course there are many opinions on what to use when covering a model.  So, this is my opinion.  WWI Bi-planes should only be covered with a fabric covering.  It gives it a much more scale appearance than the plastics.  There is definatly more work involved.  But I really dont see it as work as this is my hobby.  And there are several fabrics to chose from.  Some require you use an adhesive to attach it to the airframe.  Some come with the adhesive already applied.  I do not know if Minnflyer covers fabrics.  But if you want to try out the fabrics there are alot of threads here to aid you in that also.  Good luck.

Got to go with stevenmax40 on this, I'm a WW1 nut also and fabric looks so much more real on fabric covered airplanes that were not given 20 coats of dope and rubbed out between. Solartex, from Balsa USA has many WW1 type colors. It is the easiest material to use and almost idiot proof! Minnflyers video is the best information on this subject you can find, it is current, covers all the bases and best of all, FREE! Good luck!

Thanks for the info, this is my 1st build and it's a Dynaflite S.E.5a with no help so it's has really really been a challenge for someone like me with not so much patience. I have already bought the flat color Monokote to cover it with. Where do you start of the fuselage?:eek:
