Pick a kit!

Hello!

I need another kit to build this winter -it looks like it's going to last longer then expected!

On both Sig kits I plan on using a K&B 60 or Thunder Tiger 40, If I get the Aqua-Star, I will also get a new engine.

Cost wise, they all seem to be close enough.

Thank you!

RE: Pick a kit!

I built an AquaStar and converted to electric. I just hand launch and land on grass or snow so I left off the wing pontoons and the spray rails. I glassed the fuse with 3/4 oz cloth and wbp. I also added ailerons with a pair of micro servos. A quick build, inexpensive, and fun to fly.

How is it's water performance? The reason I am looking for a seaplane is due to the fact I live on the water.

From what I have read they are tough to get airborn off the water.  Some guys have had luck with the added fuse chines to block the water spray from the prop. Some guys hand launch and land on the water.  Also noted was it is good to waterprof the pushrod exits so the radio stays dry.  I can give you the motor/battery specs I used if you want to go electric.

I was planning on adding rails to either the Aqua-Star or Sealane anyways, so that is not a problem.
I think I will stick with glow - unless it is cheaper to go electric. The engine I am looking at is 48.99 USD from Tower.
How much would the electric setup + charger be?

Thank you!

A friendflew a Sig Smith Miniplane and loved it. It flew nice and was great flying plane...

SIG Kits are great and the Smith is one of the best! No brainer for me, I'd go with the Miniplane, a great and fun flying airplane and fun to build too boot!

I guess I am going with the Miniplane!

How are it's flight characteristics? It will be a first bipe.

Thank you all for voting!

So Graeme, when will this build happen?  I have been interested in the plane and would like to see a build from the start.
