does anyone recognize this Extra?
1 Attachment(s)
hi everyone.
i've got what looks like an Extra with a 73" wingspan and i'm in the process of resurrecting it so i can fly it. i bought it all banged up so i don't know who the original manufacturer is. does anyone recognize it? it has a carl goldberg engine mount and the plywood parts are laser cut but that's all i know. thanks, bart |
RE: does anyone recognize this Extra?
Didn't Lanier have one that the whole top lifted off like that??

RE: does anyone recognize this Extra?
i actually had to remove the turtledeck which is what started the whole rebuild process. the plastic turtledeck wasn't glued on very well and it looked crappy so i started by removing that but then i didn't like the way the controls were done so i'm redoing that, and surprise, the tail is crooked so i'll be working to remove that tonight so i can straighten it out and eventually i'll maybe get to fly it.
the turtledeck is plastic, there's a canopy that mounts ahead of that, and a hatch cover that sits between the cowl and canopy. thanks, bart |

Yeah,
Lanier used a lot of Vac plastic and those mid 90's kits were built like tanks. Are the wings/tail foam core?? http://www.happyhobby.com/hobb_html/...extra_300s.htm There's a thread in the GS Aerobatic/3D forum,,, a 1/3 Lanier Laser 200, they were designed the same way, that guy is repalcaing the plastic turtle dek with a built up structure http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9957957/tm.htm good luck |
RE: does anyone recognize this Extra?
I'm rebuilding a Lanier Laser 33% model now because the plastci turtle deck wasn't installed correct and the rest of the build was also questionable. I designed a turtle deck buitl of 1/8" lite ply formers and 1/8 x 1/4 hardwood sticks.
The last I looked, you can still get the manual on line. Plans would be nice, but the manual was still there. If you can't find it, drop me a PMand I'll send you a copy. Don |

ORIGINAL: scale only 4 me Yeah, Lanier used a lot of Vac plastic and those mid 90's kits were built like tanks.
