RE: Cheap Header Tank
Well I didn't used to use 'em until I read Ray's manual and also realised I could see the fuel level cos in the (now deceased) Shuttle the tank is in a stupid place. Since then tho' I get a little more flight time - it's time to land when I'm on the header. Close call today though as the clunk pipe had come off in the header!!!!!!!
But now I find what the header also gives me is the fuel isn't so frothy and I get a better fuel delivery as well. HTH.

RE: Cheap Header Tank
So, basically a header tank depletes the amount of foam produced in the main tank. I realize you had a "vision problem" seeing your tank on your shuttle, thus I can see why a header tank would be nice. I have a Nexus 30, and the tank sits behind everything in plain view. Therefore, I can tell how much fuel is in it with a quick hover. So, if you have a heli that produces foam, then that's when you shoud use a header tank? Is this something to do with aerobatics, and the "shaking up" of the main tank?
Just curious, cuz in normal flight (which is where I am at) I don't see any foaming happening currently.

RE: Cheap Header Tank
Header tanks also maintain a more consistent mix with the fuel. Ever notice as the fuel level gets low the engine will start to run lean. Since the header tank is always full it will run the same though the whole flight.

Yeah, I did notice that now that you mention it. I just figured it was becasue the engine was hotter, and leaned itself out. Didn't realize it had something to do with the fuel tank.
Thanks for the info.

I was just wondering were to put the header tank.. I have been using them for about
12 years now the little 2oz tanks. (works great) I am thinking maybe placing the header
in the rear off the skids behind the main tank. as the header will run out last and you
would be able to see it that way, What do you think?
