Caliber 30 n00b
Hey everyone,
this is my first post on this forum. I'm thinking of buying a Caliber 30 and need some help with selecting all
the right parts. I've read about the whole EMS and MMS thing and was wondering if anyone could tell me if
the following remote is suitable for EMS/CCPM:
Futaba 6EXH 6-Channel FM Micro/4 S3107 Servos
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=LXKZC0**&P=ML
I know that I'd hafto buy an extra S3107 servo but that doesn't matter much. I selected this radio mainly
because of the price (I'm not really planning on spending more than 750 € on this thing).
Another question:
I've read that aside form the radio, the starter, the fuel, the gyro and the batteries you also need a 6mm
Hex starter shaft. Does this mean that the actual Hex starter is included in the ARF kit or not? If not then
which one would be most suitable for the kit?
Last question:
What fuel is best suited for the 5,2 cm² motor included in the kit (How much % do I need?)?
Thanks for your help!

If you're sold on that transmiter, try this one:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXHYK9**&P=0
Same transmitter as you picked, but Heli specific with entry level servos. I don't know much more about this transmitter though.
I use a Hitec Eclipse 7, a good entry level transmitter.
The Sanwa/Airtronics RD6000 and RD8000 are also entry level transmitters that won't break the bank.
BEST ADVICE - Get a six channel transmitter at the minimum. Get the BEST transmitter you can afford so you won't be needing to upgrade (spending more money) as your flying skills advance.

Going cheap in helis means frustration. The radio above will work but I would highly reccomend a 7C if you can afford it.
As for MMS or EMS mms is made for transmitters that don't support ems, that radio supports multiple swash types so you can do EMS ore electronic mixing system. MMS slides the servo tray back and forth, not a good idea.
Also you will need a gyro, I would get a GY401 in a combo with a 9254 servo.
There's places besides tower that sell the Caliber, take a look around at http://www.heliproz.com and http://www.ronlund.com most of the time they are cheaper and customer service at both is top notch, all they do is heli's.
