RE: Nexus 30 help
The easiest thing to do is use a Raptor 30 clutch. It is the right thickness it just hangs out of the bottom of the bell. So set it and let it dry, trim the excess and then your back in the air. My last clutch replacement was done in this manner and I have had no problems whats so ever.

RE: Nexus 30 help
My name is Dennis, I live in Red Bluff, Calif. I recently bought a used Nexus 30 with a new OS 32 on it. Upon spool up, it would do the chicken dance and vibrate violently. Although it looked like new, and had Kyosho blades on it which were and are in mint condition, the feathering shaft was badly bent. I removed and straightened it as best I could, then I CG'ed and Balanced the blades. After that, only the canopy would shake a little. I was so excited I forgot to check the blade tracking, and I had it at eye level several times already. LOL 3 times now I forgot to look at the tracking. I did use the Robart Pitch Gauge on er, and checked it several times, but I bet the tracking will still be off slightly. I will say this... Up to this point, I have only flown my VNR3D (which gave it's life while I was learning how to hover), and my Blade CP, which I still have and fly every day, but im not quit doing FF yet. When I first got the Nexus off the ground, I was hovering at about 1 inch, and actually thought it was still on the ground, it was so stable !!! Took it to the 3 foot level, and I am amazed at how solid the tail is, and how stable the heli is in general. I think im gunna love this thing... I just ordered new Main and feathering shafts from Century for it this morning, and other than those, it only needs 3 of the skids rubber plugs. I got a Futaba T6XA TX with it, so I think I did pretty good for $300.00 It's hovers like a Cadillac compared to the Blade CP. LOL

RE: Nexus 30 help
Yep. the bigger they are the better they fly. Wait till you get your hands on a 60
Get a new flybar as well. It's critical that its perfectly straight.

RE: Nexus 30 help
The flybar appears to be perfect. I just didn't think it was going to be that much easier to fly, just easier... The tail did glitch 1 time, and I had to set it down, and now I kinda remember hearing that at the field a couple of years ago before he quit flyin it. So im going to have to keep an eye on it, and stay low for a while... I do love the quality in the Nexus. I think it's very well made. I have no desire t even fly inverted at this time, and just like scale type flight, so moving up to a larger heli won't be necessary for me, unless I start getting bored with it, and I don't see that happening any time soon. How long have you had yours ? And have you been getting any parts from Century ? They sure are nice to deal with...

RE: Nexus 30 help
Ok, I have a question for you Nexus Pro's out there... I just replaced the pitch rod guide and mainshaft. I have the set screws of the mast stopper in the middle of the smaller dia machined area of the mast. Is this correct ? or should the set screws be at the top or bottom of the machined area ? I don't have a manual, and the one online doesn't say that I can find.

RE: Nexus 30 help
after you get the shaft assembly into the bearing blocks you adjust the stopper so the shaft has no/minimal play between the bearing blocks then tighten all 4 set screws.

Here's an online manual for the Nexus. You can get the part numbers in the exploded views.

RE: Nexus 30 help
Not much action here on the Nexus Thread... Today I test hovered my Nexus with the new bearings (except the clutch drum bearing, and it needs one, oops !!!) and the new 6EXH Transmitter. Fired it up, set the idle, and checked the cut off switch, then test hovered. It has the shakes still ??? The blades have been CG'ed and balanced, both the main and feathering shafts are new, and it still shakes... Hmmmm... At this point, all I can think of is tuning it out using tape on the blades. I cant find anything loose in the head area... It shakes as I spool up (starts off wiggleing the tail) then as it gets faster and gets light, the skids do a little chicken dance. It hovers great, but there's definently something wrong... Anyone got any ideas ? Dennis in Red Bluff, Ca.

RE: Nexus 30 help
you can shim the feathering spindle to 'squeeze' on the dampeners and it'll take some of the lead/lag out of the head and cut down on the shaking. the Concept had different color dampeners with red being stiffer, but i don't recall if they offered the same option with the Nexus or not it's been to long ago but I've used washers to shim the dampening on most every 30 I've had and it always worked great, especially on the ones with a flapping yoke (which you'll never get the wobble on spool up out of)
