I have the GX36H manual right here.
"Engine Starting Step 3:
From it's fully closed position, rotate left (counter-clockwise) 2 ~ 2.5 turns. This is referred to as opening the needle."
(I think that is about the needle, sorry but I am a newbie to heli's but I have this heli too.)
"Note: The best setting for the idle adjustment screw (factory-adjusted) is between 1 to 1.5 turns (anti-clockwise) from the fully closed position with the throttle fully closed."
I hope that explains it.

hello. That's not the Idle adjustment needle. You have one main needle and one inside carburator horn that adjust the idle speed.
Manual says 1 - 1.5 turns, but after a while you may have to adjust it.

I know of the two needle settings, I just thought I'd type down the whole step but I guess that was not needed, but yeah the last line says 1 to 1.5 turns.

Thats All right. I didnt see the last line in your post whos sas the 1.5 turn..etc. Sorry bout that.. but the thing is; I got a new carburator to an old, well run engine. Cant remember
how the idle needle was tuned, så I hoped somebody else with an GX36 engine had the solution. Thinking of buying an OS 37 engine. Think the GX36 sucks. After 20 liters of fuel, the idle adjustment screw was shaken loose and stopped my engine at high altitude. Thank god for Autorot... didnt wreck the plane.
